The High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Major General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki, Hilal-i-Imtiaz paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage on Thursday (7) afternoon at the Army Headquarters.
During cordial discussions that ensued, both of them recalled friendly and sound relations that exist between both nations for so many years as well as ongoing exchange programmes, related particularly to participation of armed forces in varied training programmes and other pertinent exchange modules of bilateral importance.
Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage after extending warm greetings on the High Commissioner’s new appointment to Sri Lanka assured him of his best cooperation.
The cordial meet culminated with exchange of mementos.
Colonel Muhammad Safdar, Defence Advisor, at High Commission of Pakistan was also associated with the courtesy meeting.
