Navy arrests fishing trawler with over 100kg of drugs

Sri Lankan Navy has arrested a fishing boat carrying more than 100 kg of drugs, identified as heroine.  It is reported that six suspects have been arrested with the heroine consignment.

According to the Navy press release, the arrest was through a coordinated effort between the Sri Lanka Navy [SLNS Vijayabahu regiment] and the state intelligence services. Suspects were apprehended with the illicit drugs on a multi-day fish trawler.

Suspects and the vessel carrying drugs are to be brough to the Colombo port today (18 May) in order to pursue legal action.
