The State Veterinary Surgeons’ Association has warned that the lumpy skin disease which has been ravaging cattle in the North Western and North Central Provinces, is gradually spreading towards the Western Province.
Noting that the disease has now spread towards the Central Province, President of the Association – Dr. Sisira Piyasiri has said that it is now spreading to the Western Province.
Noting that this could seriously impact the local milk production, Dr. Piyasiri has urged authorities to expedite the necessary vaccination programme in the Central, North Western and Uva Provinces where a high volume of milk production is done.
